International Association of  Transportation Infrastructure (INTATI)

Founded in 1995, the International Association of Transportation Infrastructure (INTATI) is a non-profit, non-governmental academic organization dedicated to advancing research, knowledge exchange, and professional collaboration in the field of transportation infrastructure. INTATI brings together researchers, engineers, policymakers, and industry professionals from around the world to promote innovation and sustainable development in transportation infrastructure.

History

INTATI builds on three decades of academic development and international collaboration.

1995 — Foundation in Aachen

In 1995, the Research Association for Road, Earthworks and Tunnel Engineering Aachen e.V. was founded in Aachen, Germany, by Professor Bernhard Steinauer of RWTH Aachen University. Over the following three decades, the Association contributed to research and development in road, geotechnical, and tunnel engineering, while fostering international collaboration in transportation infrastructure.

2015 — Establishment of the Sino-European Research Center

In 2015, the Sino-European Research Center for Advanced Transportation Infrastructure Technology was established to strengthen collaboration in fundamental research, education and professional development, international academic exchange, and knowledge transfer between academia and industry.

2025 — Renaming as INTATI

Building on three decades of academic development and a decade of collaboration through the Sino-European Research Center, the organization was renamed the International Association of Transportation Infrastructure (INTATI) in 2025. This transition marked an expansion of its international network and a broader commitment to advancing research, innovation, and collaboration in transportation infrastructure worldwide.
